How To Make Halloween Zombie Dirt Cupcakes

The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make these cute Halloween zombie dirt cupcakes. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Gather your ingredients. I used a box mix to make my cupcakes – Devil’s Food, of course! 😈

For the cupcake wrappers, I used the skull and bone wrappers from this set. I think black wrappers would look great too.

I also used Halloween Oreos because that’s what I had on hand, but you don’t need to go out of your way to buy Halloween-specific Oreos since you’ll be scraping out the filling.

If you’re making your own cupcakes, let them fully cool before starting on assembly.

You’ll also want to crush your Oreos (cookies only; not the filling) into a fine powder that resembles dirt.

Frost the cupcakes, sprinkle on the Oreo “dirt,” and push a zombie cupcake pick deep into the center.

Enjoy! I hope these zombie cupcakes bring some fun to your Halloween party. Don’t forget to do the zombies a favor and break them fully free of the ground by eating the cupcake. 🧟‍♀️

If you serve these to kids, make sure they know before digging in that the zombie hand isn’t edible! (And maybe adults too, especially if they’ve been enjoying some Halloween “boos.” 😉)
