How To Make Halloween Spooky Donuts

The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make these cute Halloween spooky donuts. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Gather your ingredients.

I usually use the Hostess brand of mini donuts, but any brand will do!

You can leave each donut “mouth” as is or punch a hole in it to make it more pronounced if it isn’t already.

First, prep the sticks: Push a stick into the thickest part of each donut, then pull it out. Fill the hole with icing, then push the stick back in. This will help firm up the stick in the donut a bit.

Second, add the eyes: Use the cookie icing as glue to glue on the eyes.

Let the donuts sit on a flat surface for at least five minutes before serving them (this will allow the icing to harden).

Serving Tips

  • Because mini donuts are fragile, they aren’t as easy to work with as cake pops and are more prone to sliding/moving on the stick. I recommend serving these from a plate, not sitting upright.
  • Alternatively, you can skip the stick altogether if you’d prefer.

Enjoy! I hope these lost souls bring some laughs to your Halloween party.
