How To Make Double Chocolate Chip Cookies (Quick Overview)
The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make chocolate chocolate chip cookies. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.
Preheat oven to temperature on recipe card (located at the end of the post).
In a small bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate large bowl or stand mixer, mix butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Add the egg and heavy whipping cream, then mix until fully incorporated.

Then slowly add the flour mixture and mix until combined. You’ll get nice rich chocolate cookie dough batter, especially if you use Dutch process cocoa!
Add chocolate chips and gently fold them in, being sure to evenly distribute them as much as possible.

Drop the dough onto non-stick cookie sheets using a cookie scoop or spoon. Be sure to space the dough at least 3” to 4” apart to allow for spreading during baking.

Bake, cool, serve, and enjoy!
🍪 Tips
- If you want your cookies to have the “oozing with chocolate” look as shown in the first photo in this post, use a spoon or fork to spread the chocolate chips across the top of the cookies before the chips re-solidify.
- To add another layer of flavor, lightly sprinkle your cookies with sea salt flakes. (Some people love this flavor combo, some people don’t; to play it safe, experiment with one cookie first before you do the whole batch!)
