🍫 Photo 1: Grab your cream cheese that’s been softened to room temp and beat it with the vanilla extract on medium until it’s nice and fluffy, which should take about 1-2 minutes.

Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt, beating the mixture until it is smooth and free of lumps. Your frosting is ready to use!

Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients
- 8 oz brick cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
- 4 oz 1 stick unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
- 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (preferably Dutch process, sifted)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine cream cheese and vanilla extract. Use a hand or stand mixer to beat on medium speed until the cream cheese becomes light and fluffy, which should take about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the butter and repeat the process.
- Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt, beating the mixture until it is smooth and free of lumps.
Notes
- This makes approximately 2 1/4 cups of frosting
- For a thicker and sweeter frosting: add up to 1 cup additional powdered sugar
- Because this frosting contains cream cheese, the frosting (and anything you use it on) must be refrigerated
