How To Make Peach Cobbler (Quick Overview)

The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make the fresh peach cobbler. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Start By Prepping the Peaches

Preheat your oven to 425°F and lightly butter an 8” x 10” (or 9” x 9”) casserole dish.

Pit and slice the peaches thinly, then toss them into a large bowl.

I leave the peach peels on (they’re thin and I like the added color), but many people like to peel their peaches for cobbler. The best way to do this is to score the peaches at the bottom with an “X,” dunk them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then place them in an ice bath. Once fully cooled, the peels should, well, peel right off! 🙂

To the bowl with the peaches, add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch.

Mix everything together until the peaches are well-coated, then add them to your prepared casserole dish.

Place the dish into the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, just until the peaches start to soften.

Make the Biscuits Next

To a large bowl, add the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir to combine.

Cut the butter into small cubes and add the cubes to the bowl.

Work the butter into the dry mix until it’s nice and crumbly.

Stir in the water, then add 2-3 tbsp of milk until the mixture is just moistened.

Be careful not to overmix. Your biscuit batter is ready!

Scoop big spoonfuls of the biscuit batter and drop them over the peaches.

Add the Topping

Mix the topping ingredients (granulated sugar and cinnamon) in a small bowl, then sprinkle it generously over the biscuit dough.

Final Instructions

Return the dish to the oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is browned.

Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before digging in, allowing the peach mixture to thicken. Serve the cobbler as is, or add a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
