How To Make Squash Casserole (Quick Overview)
The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make the squash bake. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Photo 1: Preheat oven to the temperature listed on the recipe card (at the end of the post), then add all ingredients except 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese to a large bowl.
Photo 2: Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
Photo 3: Add mixture to prepared casserole dish, ensuring the ingredients are spread evenly across the bottom.
Photo 4: Add remaining cheddar cheese and place in preheated oven.
How to Make This a Dump-and-Bake Casserole
You don’t really need to dirty a bowl for this casserole; I just find it easier to stir in a deeper bowl. Feel free to skip the bowl and dump all of the ingredients (except for the final 1/4 cup Cheddar cheese) into your casserole dish!

Bake until liquid has absorbed and the top begins to brown. Serve seasoned with salt and pepper to taste.
🍽️ Alternative Prep Method
As this casserole bakes, the rice at the top of the dish becomes crispy. If you would prefer this not to happen, see the recipe card notes for an alternative prep method.
