How To Make Broccoli Steak Stir Fry (Quick Overview)
The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make the broccoli steak stir fry. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.
Season the beef with baking powder, salt, and pepper.
Heat up a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tbsp of olive oil, and toss in the seasoned beef. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring a few times, until the beef is fully cooked.
Safety first! Use a food thermometer to make sure your steak hits at least 145°F.

Transfer the beef to a large dish and set it aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil, then toss in the broccoli, red bell pepper, and carrot. Cook until the veggies are tender but still crisp.
I’ve added a red pepper and carrot for extra color and flavor, but if you want to make this an exclusively broccoli and steak stir fry, feel free to replace the red pepper and carrot with an extra 2 cups of broccoli.

Transfer them to the dish with the beef and set aside again.
Lower the heat to medium and stir together the soy sauce, garlic, sugar, ginger, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar in the skillet. Let it come to a simmer.
Pour in the beef broth and sprinkle the cornstarch on top. Stir it all together and let it simmer for another 2 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
Add the cooked beef and veggies back into the skillet and stir everything until it’s heated through.

Take it off the heat, plate it, and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds.
You can serve the stir fry as is, or over your favorite cooked rice.
Enjoy!

Fun fact: Did you know bell peppers are actually healthier when cooked? Cooking them breaks down their cell walls, making the carotenoids and Vitamin C easier for your body to absorb.

- 1 tbsp baking powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
- 1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 large red bell pepper (destemmed, deseeded, and cut into matchsticks/julienned strips)
- 1 large carrot (julienned)
Stir Fry Sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup beef broth
Garnish/To Serve
- 3 green onions (chopped into 1/2” pieces)
- 2 tsp sesame seeds
- cooked rice (optional; for serving)
Instructions
- Season steak with baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high and add 1 tbsp olive oil and seasoned steak. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring several times, until the steak is evenly cooked through (test the internal temperature with a food thermometer to ensure it has reached at least 145 F). Transfer steak to a large dish and set aside.
- Add remaining 1 tbsp olive oil to the skillet, followed by the broccoli, red bell pepper, and carrot. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Transfer to the same dish as the steak and set aside.
- Reduce the heat on the stovetop to medium and add the soy sauce, garlic, sugar, ginger, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the beef broth, then sprinkle the cornstarch over the top. Stir, then simmer for an additional two minutes or until sauce thickens.
- Add cooked vegetables and steak, and cook until everything is heated through.
- Remove from heat, plate, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. If desired, serve over a bed of cooked rice.
Notes
- I’ve added a red pepper and carrot for extra color and flavor, but if you want to make this an exclusively broccoli and steak stir fry, feel free to replace the red pepper and carrot with an extra 2 cups of broccoli.
