How To Make a Casserole Meatball Recipe
The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make meatball recipe. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.
- Preheat oven to temperature on recipe card (bottom of post)
- In a large bowl, combine Italian sausage, Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs. Roll into balls and place into a large non-stick skillet.

- Cook meatballs on medium heat for approximately 8 minutes until meatballs are browned on all sides.
Note
Your goal is to brown the meatballs; the meatballs will not be fully cooked at this point.

- Transfer meatballs to an 8” x 8” baking dish.

- Top meatballs with sauce and cheese.

- Bake, covered with foil, for 15 minutes. Remove foil and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
Note
Use a meat thermometer to ensure the inside of the meatballs has reached at least 160 F. If not, return the dish to the oven until they reach a safe temperature.
- Serve. Everyone will love this dish!

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground mild Italian sausage
- 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 24 oz your favorite pasta or marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 F.
- In a large bowl, combine Italian sausage, Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs. Roll into 1 1/2” balls and place into a large non-stick skillet.
- Cook meatballs on medium heat for approximately 8 minutes until meatballs are browned on all sides (they will not be fully cooked).
- Transfer meatballs to an 8” x 8” baking dish. Top with sauce and cheese.
- Bake, covered with foil, for 15 minutes. Remove foil and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
- Using a meat thermometer, ensure inside of meatballs has reached at least 160 F. If not, return to oven.
- Serve. Everyone will love this dish!
