Homemade Cranberry Sauce with Cinnamon
Skip the canned stuff and go for homemade! This Homemade Cranberry Sauce takes only 15 minutes to make and is lick-the-spoon delicious.

This cranberry sauce lets the fabulous flavor of cranberries take center stage. It may be blasphemy, but I’ve never cared for the orange flavor in cranberry sauce, which led to me not really loving cranberry sauce.
One Thanksgiving I decided to make it without orange juice… and I fell madly in love! I invite you to try this recipe and see if it’s the cranberry sauce recipe of your dreams too (I hope it is!).

How To Make Homemade Cranberry Sauce
The steps below are just a quick overview of how to make easy homemade cranberry sauce. The full process in detail is located in the recipe card at the end of the post.

- Rinse cranberries. In a saucepan over medium heat, add cranberries and water. (Photo 1)
Tip
The more water you add at this step, the thinner your cranberry sauce will be. I recommend adding enough water to almost cover the cranberries, but not entirely.
- Add powdered sugar and brown sugar to the saucepan. (Photo 2) Stir to combine.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. (Photo 3) Simmer for ~10 minutes until most or all of the cranberries have burst. (Photo 4)
- After 10 minutes, remove the cranberries from the heat. Stir in cinnamon and vanilla. (Photo 5)
- Pour into a heat-safe container and allow the sauce to cool off.
- After the sauce has cooled, place it in the fridge and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy!

I’m wondering if this cranberry sauce can be frozen?
Thank you!
Yes, the cranberry sauce can be frozen very easily. Put it is a freezer safe container and it should remain frest for a few weeks.
This is my second time making this and it is great. I like that I usually have most of the ingredients in my pantry and how easy it is to make.
It is wonderful to hear that! Thank you for leaving your kind review. 🙂
